As a *registered* user of ~Aaron (do it!), I decided to diversify the look of my desktop with these small clips that echo the ribbed-titlebar System 8 (Copland) look of Landweber and Voas's dynamite extension. I hope you like them too.
1) I hear you asking "Why should I use these, when I have such nice wallpaper already? I'd rather look at (Erika Eleniak, humpback whales, space landscapes) than use those boring Desktop Patterns!"
Well, I have Connectix Desktop Utilities, and also use Wallpaper and other utilities to put graphics on the desktop. I like them a lot for everyday use. However, when I do structured work like writing, graphics, etc., the bright colorful pictures are sometimes distracting. I keep a selection of regular, small patterns like these around to tone things down a little!
2) Directions if you need them:
Users of System 7.5: Open your Desktop Patterns Control Panel, so you are ready to copy the new patterns into it. Then double-click one of the pattern clips inside the ~Absolutely ~Aaron folder. It should open and display a small section of the pattern. Copy and paste the patterns one at a time into Desktop Patterns.
The easiest way to do this is by opening and selecting "Copy" from the Finder's edit menu while the pattern clip is selected (or hitting "control-c"). This will put the chosen pattern on your clipboard. Select the Desktop Pattern Control Panel window and do a "Paste" from the Finder's edit menu (or hit "control-v") to drop the pattern into your desktop selection. Then just hit the "Set Desktop Pattern" button to try them out.
Pre-7.5 users: Use a "ppat" utility like the ones available in the MUT libraries to copy and add these to your Desktop Patterns selection.
